That’s especially important in the GTA, where insurance costs are already higher. FSRA’s latest published figures show an average annual premium of $2,810 in the GTA, compared with $2,164 across Ontario as of October 2025.

Two similarly priced vehicles can have very different insurance premiums. A vehicle that’s frequently stolen, expensive to repair or generates higher insurance claims may cost more to insure. On the other hand, models with favourable claims experience, lower repair costs and effective safety technology may perform better from an insurance perspective.
