Reasons we love the Dodge Charger
Posted on March 11, 2020
Asking the experts at Caledon Chrysler why we love the 2016 Dodge Charger is actually a difficult question. Not because we don't know what to say, it's more because we wouldn't know when to stop. All you have to do is take even the quickest glance at this modern muscle car, and you'll start to see why we love it so much. However, since we've been asked to actually answer the question, let's see if we can squeeze all of our answers into one place.
No promises.
Reason #1: Raw Power
It's called a muscle car for a reason. Sure, it's listed as a sedan, but that's more of an industry label, not a fitting description. Available in eight trim levels, the 2016 Dodge Charger comes standard with an already powerful 3.6-liter Pentastar VVT V6 engine that produces 292 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. As you move up the levels, you really start to feel the power thanks to three amazing engines:
- 5.7-liter HEMI VVT V8 engine with FuelSaver MDS that puts out 370 horsepower and 395 lb.-ft. of torque
- 6.4-liter SRT HEMI V8 engine with FuelSaver MDS that packs a wicked punch with 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque
- 6.2-liter Supercharged HEMI Hellcat V8 engine that produces an astonishing 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque
No matter which trim level or engine you choose you will be behind the wheel of an extremely powerful car that has few equals on the roads of Canada, or the world for that matter. Oh and least we forget, with the V6 engine you get best-in-call highway fuel economy with 7.7 L/100 Km (37 mpg).*
Reason #2: Smooth Ride
Having a high-performance engine is great, but it doesn't mean much without the means to harness that power. We love the fact that the 2016 Dodge Charger allows you to stay in control every second you're on the road. On a number of trim levels (SE, SXT, and SXT Plus), you have the option of all-wheel drive. This gives you amazing traction, especially in challenging weather conditions like snow and rain, as well as fantastic handling at higher speeds. When you combine AWD with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, Auto/Stick shifter, and five-link rear suspension, your ride will reach near maximum control and smoothness.
Reason #3: Technology Galore
While we love the original muscle cars of the 60's and 70's, we also love cutting-edge technology. Guess what? It just so happens the 2016 Dodge Charger gives us both. You'll always stay connected and entertained in this modern classic. Some of the highlights include a seven-inch customizable full-colour in-cluster display, hands-free communication with Bluetooth streaming audio, and the available Uconnect 8.4 multimedia centre with 8.4-inch touchscreen. While it is optional, we are also crazy about the BeatsAudio premium sound system that kicks out the jams with 10 speakers and a 12-channel amplifier with 552 watts of power.<
When you put all this power, performance, and technology together, it's fairly easy to see why we are so in love with the Dodge Charger. If after reading our Dodge Charger review you're still not convinced, we think you'll really fall in love with this muscle car after you get behind the wheel.
