"With a little care and elbow grease, you can keep your car looking like new for years to come"
-AAA, Making Sense of Car Care

You can never fully capture that new-car smell because part of it comes from the manufacturing process itself. However, you can keep your vehicle smelling fresh and
Clean.

This will make your car more enjoyable for you and your passengers-and will help to maintain a string resale value.

Take out the trash

Take a trash bag out to the car and remove all the accumulated garbage. Check under the seats, in the seat pockets, and in the glove compartment. Don't forget the trunk-you may be surprised at what you find there.

Vacuum and Shampoo

Remove the floor mats and thoroughly clean your carpet and cloth seats. This helps to remove the embedded dirt and grime that can wear out your carpet and create marks and stains.

Wipe down dash and vinyl

Use hot, soapy water to clean your dash, door panels, console, steering column, and any other plastic and vinyl in the interior.

Don't soak the carpet or cloth seats in the process, or you will get mold and mildew in your vehicle. You may also consider using a suitable UV protectant on your dash, steering wheel, and vinyl to prevent cracking.

If you have leather interior, clean it periodically and use a leather treatment to protect it. Remember that the leather is easily ruined by harsh cleaners

Treat your seats

Clean your cloth seats with a trusted brand of fabric cleaner. Test it on an inconspicuous spot for color fastness before you use it on your seats.

Consider treating your freshly cleaned cloth seats with a fabric guard to protect against spills and make cleanup quicker the next time around.

Leather-trimmed seats are best preserved by a regular cleaning with a soft, damp cloth. Stubborn stains can be removed easily with a soft cloth and reputable automotive leather cleaner.

Avoid soaking the leather trim with any liquid and don't use polishes, oils, cleaning , fluids, solvents, detergents, or ammonia-based cleaners.

Glass cleaner

A dirty windshield will impair your driving visibility and compromise your safety.

Keep your windshield and windows clean with any spray-on household type glass cleaner. Wipe it off with sheets of newspaper to minimize streaking.

Freshen the air

Before you use a fragranced air freshener, make sure you have eliminated any odors. Any lingering smells should be eliminated rather then masked.

There are several odor-diffusing products for this task. Try to achieve a neutral smell before you add an air freshener or fragrance.

Some smells are harder to treat and may be causes by a mechanical problem, such as oil leaking onto the exhaust, so speak to your service specialist.

Clean up spills immediately

You have a better chance of removing odors before they happen. Clean up spilled milk, juice, etc, Right away. You will be saving yourself a lot of time and discomfort later.
