Jeep Wrangler and Renegade Win 2019 Best Retained Value Awards
Posted on January 18, 2021
Most of us don't pay a whole lot of attention to depreciation when we're looking to buy a new vehicle, although we're all aware of it when we get a price for our trade-in. There's no way of avoiding depreciation when we buy a vehicle unless we buy an aging classic that's appreciating in value instead of a brand new vehicle, of course. It is possible to minimize depreciation and the way to do that is to look at something like the Canadian Black Book Best Retained Value Awards to see which vehicles depreciate in value the least. And if you check out the 2019 Canadian Black Book Best Retained Value Awards, you'll find the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Renegade took the top spots in their respective categories.
About the CBB Awards
The Canadian Black Book (CBB) Best Retained Value Awards are handed out every year, and they're designed to spotlight the vehicles that have managed to retain the greatest percentage of their original MSRP over the past four years. The awards are now in the 12th year, and this year's awards considered vehicles bought since 2015. The awards are an excellent guide for buyers shopping for new vehicles that help them minimize the total cost of vehicle ownership.
2019 CBB Awards
This year's awards tell us that if you go into a Jeep dealer and you're looking at a 2019 Jeep Wrangler or a 2019 Jeep Renegade, you're looking at a pair of SUVs that will lose the least amount of their value over the next four years. This year is actually the ninth year in a row that the Wrangler has been named the winner in the Compact Crossover/SUV category, so you can rest assured the Wrangler is a good buy as far as depreciation is concerned.
It's a good illustration of the fast-paced nature of the auto industry that this year is the first time the CBB Awards have featured a Sub-compact Crossover category. It's also a great illustration of just what a good buy the 2019 Jeep Renegade represents as it came out on top in this first year of the new category.
Canadian Black Book President, Brad Rome, said of the Jeep success: With two category wins and eight overall mentions for first, second or third place, FCA turned in a very strong performance this year for the Canadian Black Book Best Retained Value Awards. What's really exciting is the Jeep brand winning with the Wrangler in 'Compact Crossover/SUV' for the ninth straight year and the Renegade win in the all-new category 'Sub-compact Crossover' in the first year they were eligible."
