The 2019 Ram 1500 and
2019 Chrysler Pacifica, both of which are made here in Canada, have been given autoTRADER.ca Top Pick accreditation by the publication's editors. It's a big endorsement of the all-new, completely redesigned Ram 1500, but it's just as big a deal for the Chrysler Pacifica as this is the third time the Pacifica family minivan has won this award.
About the awards
This is the third year of the autoTRADER.ca Top Pick awards, but it doesn't detract from their importance and influence as autoTRADER.ca is the largest and most respected automotive portal in Canada. As well as reaffirming the Pacifica's position as the standard setter in the minivan market, the awards also show just how right FCA is getting things in the all-important full-size pickup truck segment. The new Ram 1500 winning this award is sure to make even more potential buyers sit up and take notice, but it also bodes extremely well for the complete redesign of Ram's heavy-duty HD models which have just been unveiled.
Michael Bettencourt, autoTRADER.ca's managing editor said of the awards: "Our editorial team put every vehicle on the marketplace to a vote by our most professional and trusted auto reviewers of various ages, backgrounds and priorities, all 16 ranking their top three to five choices in each vehicle segment, and then digging deeper - using the results of our comparison tests especially - in a follow up vote to then choose an overall winner in each segment".
2019 Ram 1500
Full-size pickup trucks, on the whole, had remained reasonably unchanged for a number of years until quite recently. As gas prices started to lower a few years ago the public's thirst for larger vehicles and pickup trucks, has grown significantly. Competition among manufacturers has therefore heated up and manufacturers are responding by massively updating some of the biggest and most established names in the truck market. Ram trucks have stood out for a while with their styling, and the
all-new 2019 Ram 1500 has kept a unique look but updated the truck magnificently in almost every area. As well as the expected enhancements of more capability, better features and lighter weight, Ram has also taken the bold move of introducing electrification to the full-size truck segment with its brand new eTorque mild hybrid system. Capability remains as important as ever, of course, so the 2019 Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds and can haul up to 2,300 pounds.
2019 Chrysler Pacifica & Pacifica Hybrid
With its unprecedented levels of functionality, versatility, technology and its bold, attractive styling, the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid continue to set the standard by which others are judged in the family minivan segment. The Pacifica Hybrid is the first vehicle of its kind to utilize an advanced hybrid powertrain, and it boasts a fuel economy rating of 3.0 Le/100 km in electric-only mode in city driving, and a 50-kilometre (31 miles) range of electric-only driving.
